The stylish and colourful interior of cocktail bar restaurant Celest in Rotterdam is designed by Doepel Strijkers architects and commissioned by Magnicity.

Celest, for which we developed and installed a carpet with continuous gradients, is located on the top two floors of De Zalmhaven, 190 meters above the Maas River, floor 57 and 58, making it the highest restaurant in the Benelux. It offers an amazing view.

The design by Doepel Strijkers architects allows Celest’s guests to transcend the ordinary world, to a special place far above the earth. Guests literally rise to new heights.
Shortlisted for the best use of colour.

We are excited to share a collaboration between Marcel Kronenburg and Doepel Strijkers. Marcel, a visual artist, designer and founder of Carpets for Buildings, brings his expertise in design and advanced technology such as computerised carpet production machines to create unique floor patterns. He is also a long-term collaborator of Doepel Strijkers. For Celest restaurant and cocktail bar, Doepel Strijkers asked Marcel to craft a carpet that covers entire floor, transitioning from the cool morning tones to the warm glow of sunset. His innovative approach combined creativity with practical needs like noise isolation, resulting in a functional and beautiful outcome.

The Zalmhaventower in Rotterdam, designed by Dam & Partners Architects, is currently the highest residential tower in the Benelux with a height of 215 metres in 2025.
The clever thing about the construction of the tower is that it was completely prefabricated from the 4th to the 56th floor by means of a climbing factory, which also makes the tower the highest prefabricated building in the world.
A covered and conditioned construction shed with several heavy overhead cranes that climb up with the construction of the tower: one new floor per week. Facades, interior walls and balconies arrived ready-made to be processed immediately. The climbing factory moved up and down along its own columns that were outside the building. The facades outside the building were therefore easily accessible all around and the floor was available for construction work without hindrance.
This is an ingenious invention for the logistical complexity of high-rise projects in compact built-up urban areas.
The Zalmhaventower contains 452 apartments, 33 townhouses, 5 levels of parking garage, various offices and commercial spaces. The glass top of the tower, floors 57 and 58, is accessible to the public and houses the stylish restaurant Celest.
